Donation Guidelines

Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures its Grand Casinos are committed to helping meet the needs of nearby communities in a way that will make all of our lives better.  While donations are given to a variety of organizations our philanthropy is guided by our four Categories of Giving:

Education – Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures will help to increase student achievement by donating to areas that make learning relevant for future careers, inspire students to pursue higher education, and to further education students about Native American culture.

Health & Human Services – Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures will help to enrich the lives of youth and strengthens families by donating to organizations that help build and sustain health in our neighboring communities.

Environment – Our commitment to sustainability extends beyond the vision of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. The vision of the Mille Lacs Band has always been to respect the ability of future generations and to keep in mind the next seven generations.  Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures will support this vision by donating to organizations that make meaningful contributions to the sustainability of the environment.

Arts & Culture – Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures will support creative expression organizations that work toward enriching the lives of the community members and those organizations that help education people about the world around us.  By us giving to organizations that support this overall effort, we will be doing our part to promote cultural diversity.

How to apply:

In order to process your request for donation the following information must be submitted in writing (incomplete applications are ineligible for consideration):

  • The legal name of the organization
  • A brief history of the organization and its goals
  • Physical and mailing address and phone number for the organization
  • Full name and title of contact person
  • Project or event name
  • Detailed description of the project or event, including the event timeline
  • Amount of request and when the donation is needed
  • Information on projected impact of the donation, including how many people the donation will impact
  • Total project cost with budget information
  • Other fundraising efforts
  • Communication strategy and recognition of supporters
  • Completed W-9 form (request cannot be processed without this form) If you need a W-9 form, click here

The Donation Committee meetings are held monthly.  We make every effort to process requests in a timely manner.  However, please allow at least 4 weeks lead time on all donation requests.  For more information, please contact the Donations Committee at (320) 532-8810.

Please note that we will not consider donation request for:

  • For-profit organizations; funded organizations must be a 501(c)3
  • Subsidies of existing Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe programs
  • Personal or Individual requests
  • Talent, baby, or beauty pageants
  • National ceremonies, memorials, conferences, fundraising dinners, or other similar events
  • Athletic teams or events, including sporting sponsorships for golf, pool, softball, etc.
  • Political parties or candidates
  • Endowment or cash scholarship funds
  • Conference, seminar, or workshop costs
  • Travel costs
  • Residence camp costs
  • Seed money/start-up costs for new organizations
  • Charter/private schools
  • Second or third party requests
  • Advertising costs
  • Operational support (there must be a specific intention)
  • Underwriting of any kind
  • Religious organizations providing services to their own constituencies
  • Exclusive membership organizations
  • Video or Film Production
  • Out of state requests
